Tropical Rain Forests
The 5th and 6th Grade students are creating Tropical Rainforests. They first researched what a rainforest looks like; paying extra attention to the leaves, vines and plantlife. They next sketched their trees onto a 12x18 piece of heavy weight drawing paper. The objectives were to draw 5 trees; 3 trees must have vines wrapped around it, 2 trees must be bent, 1 tree had to run off the side of the paper. Once their drawing were done they outlined with a fine point black sharpie pen. Next, they drew in line patterns and design in the trees. They then outlined with a sharpie pen and colored in their patterns with fine tip colored markers. Once they are finished we will then create a watercolor wash into the negative spaces of the trees creating a misty tropical effect. We will be sure to post the final finished project.
